10 Ways to Decorate Your Home With Glitter With Easy DIY Projects

I never knew that it was possible to DIY glitter on upholstery until I saw this tutorial. In additional to adding glitter there’s instruction on how to add more bling with sparkling rhinestone trim and gold, shimmery paint. I think one of the most significant takeaways from this tutorial is discovering how to paint upholstery with chalk paint.

5. Glitter Lamp Shade
When I saw the thumbnail of this video tutorial for a glitter lampshade I was immediately drawn to it. This DIY lamp is best for bedside lamps and accent lights that are not your primary source of lighting because the glitter does diffuse the light. The effect up glitter peeking from underneath the lamp shade is beautiful. The instructions are simple although you do have to apply the the glitter in layers and allow it to dry.

6. Glitter Frames
Glitter frames are a great way to spice up photos on a gallery wall, tabletop, or a statement piece of artwork. Of all the glitter DIY projects this is easiest. You can prep the frames by painting them first or apply glitter directly to your frame of choice. If you paint the frame to match the glitter you won’t have to add as many coats.

7. Glitter Vase
In a previous blog post 5 Home Decor Items That Are Worth the Splurge, I wrote about flowers being a splurge-worthy home décor item. A glass vase with glitter adornment complements that splurge. I like this tutorial by Anita from Live like you are Rich because the entire vase is not covered with glitter. The embellishment is on the bottom, so the line from the stems to the florals is still visible

8. Glitter Table Top
This DIY project is perfect for adding glitter to an existing piece of furniture to give it a glam style makeover. If the table is in excellent condition, you don’t have to bother with doing anything to the table base. This tutorial is a little more involved than the others because instead of using mod podge to mix the glitter, the project calls for a resin. Resin is not that hard to work with as long as you follow the safety precautions and read the instructions. The result is a high gloss table top embedded with glitter.
